- This coin can be included as part of the series of Roman Imperial coinage documenting Hadrian's travels throughout the Roman Empire, so called "Travel Series".

- Obverse: Hadrian draped, cuirassed bust right.
- Reverse: Alexandria at left, facing right, offering grain to the Emperor; Hadrian at right facing left holding scepter, in lower field date letters L I E.
- Alexandria was the personification of the City of Alexandria.
- Hadrian officially entered Alexandria on August 28, AD 130, arriving just before the festive celebrations for the Feast of Osiris. After a journey traveling south up the Nile River, he returned to Alexandria around December AD 130. He remained based in the city through March AD 131 before continuing his tour of the empire.
