- Struck between 32 to 31 BC for Marc Antony during the war following the assassination of Julius Caesar to honor his Roman Legions.
- The legionary coinage of Marc Antony was likely produced at his winter headquarters at Patrae. Twenty-three legions were honored: LEG PRI to LEG XXIII.
- Legio XVIII was founded ca. 41 BC by Octavian (future emperor Augustus). The legion was, along with Legio XVII and Legio XIX, destroyed in the Battle of Teutoburg Forest (September, 9 AD).
