- Choice Very Fine Roman Empire silver denarius coin.
- Rare type struck for Emperor Septimius Severus at the Alexandria Mint.
- Minted 193/4 CE, RIC 347 (rated as Rare), 2.71g.
- Certified by NGC to Ch VF, Strike 4/5, Surface 4/5 (rare near max subgrades for this type).
- The attribution to the Alexandria mint is annotated by NGC with a question mark. However stylistic similarities with concurrently issued Roman Egyptian drachms and tetradrachms make this attribution a certainty. The style of the emperor's head (eyes, beard and mustache) match the drachm/tetradrachm coinage.
- Obverse: IMP CAE L SEPT SEV PERT AVG, laureate head right.
- Reverse: BONI EVENTVS, Bonus Eventus standing left holding basket of fruit and grain ears.
- Bonus Eventus was a Roman male divine personification of successful outcomes, prosperity and agricultural abundance.
