Empress Faustina II was the wife of Emperor Marcus Aurelius.
Superb highrelief portrait.
NGCCertified to AU, Strike 5/5, Surface 5/5 (very rare with maximum sub-grades).
Obverse: FAVSTINA AVGVSTA, draped bust right.
Reverse: FECVNTIDAS, Fecunditas standing front, head right, holding child (unidentified child of Faustina) and scepter.
Fecunditas (Latin: "fecundity, fertility") was the goddess of fertility. She was portrayed as a matron, sometimes holding a cornucopia, with children in her arms or standing next to her. An appropriate reverse for Faustina as she gave birth to 13 children.
