Quintus Salvidienus Rufus(died 40 BC) was aprominent Roman general and a close boyhood confidant of the future emperor Augustus (then Octavian). Despite his humble, non-senatorial origins, he quickly rose through the ranks to become one of Octavian's most trusted military commanders during the turbulent civil wars following theassassination of Julius Caesar.
