Struck for Emperor Trajan 107 CE at the Rome Mint.
RIC 147b, approx. 19mm.
Excellent Imperial portrait and presentation of Legionary Trophy with weapons and shields.
Historic commemorative issue to celebrate Trajan's military victory and triumph in the second Dacian War.
Certified by NGC to VF (with no problems).
Obverse: IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P, laureate head right with drapery on left shoulder.
Reverse: COS V P P S P Q R OPTIMO PRINC, Trophy with one round and two hexagonal shields, at base a sword, two javelins and two shields.
Trophy of arms comes from the ancient Roman tropaeum, military victories which were commemorated with a display of actual captured weapons, armor and standards.
