1690 NGC AU 50 James II Ireland Shilling March Gun Money Rebellion Coin (19102503C)
Almost Uncirculated James II Ireland Gun Money large shilling coin dated March 1690 issued during his rebellion after the "Glorious Revolution" of William and Mary.
"Gun Money" was an emergency coinage made from cannon, church bells, etc used for payment of the rebellion military.
Obverse: laureate head of James facing left.
Reverse: Crown with crossed scepters and date 1690 XII (mark of value = 12 pence) above and Mar: below.
