		<description>I agree with your statement that not enough people are aware of the CG, its many missions and areas of expertise.  I have been working with our HQ Exchange Manager to generate a CG Civilian coin, as well as a Public Health Service - USCG hopefully, in an attempt to have one for recognition of each of the members of TEAM CG (Active, Reserve, Auxiliary).  Immediate recognition seems to be a problem in large commands and yet is not only the responsibility of the CO, but also of members along the chain.  Challenge coins as these allow an economical way for people to recognize good performance.

I have been aware of challenge coins for several years, but saw the practice first hand at the 2003 BSA National Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, where the commanding general ensured to recognize military members serving the Jamboree with individual presentation of these coins.  I have since then continued this practice, although not as often as I should.
